Wood Borer Control
Protect Your Wooden Treasures from Wood Borers
Wooden furniture is an integral part of Indian homes and businesses, but unfortunately, so are wood borers — tiny pests whose food source is your valuable wood. These insects burrow deep inside the wood, eating it from within and weakening its structure until it becomes completely unusable. If you suspect that your home or business might be under attack by wood borers, don’t worry — we’re here to help you keep your premises free of these destructive pests.
Why Are Wood Borers Harmful?
Wood borers, also known as wood-boring beetles, are considered the second most damaging pests after termites. The biggest danger is that their presence often goes unnoticed until significant damage has been done — they can infest both hardwood and softwood furniture and structures. Whether it’s a ‘good’ borer or ‘bad’ borer, the result is the same: costly damage. If you see a pile of fine sawdust near your wooden furniture, it could be a sign of an active infestation. Taking prompt action can save you far more than the cost of treatment and protect your valuable wooden assets.
From furniture and art pieces to paneling, pallets, crates, picture frames, and other wooden items, we specialize in providing effective, long-lasting solutions for wood borer infestations.
What Exactly Is a Wood Borer?
A wood borer is a small insect, usually light brown to black in color and measuring about 2 to 7 mm in size. Adult wood borers lay eggs in cracks and crevices of wood. The larvae that hatch from these eggs are the main culprits — they bore deep into the wood to feed on its starch content, unlike termites that feed on cellulose. The undigested cellulose is left behind as fine powder-like sawdust.
Over the course of 3–4 years, these larvae mature into adult wood borers, creating small exit holes in the wood’s surface when they emerge. By then, the internal structure of the wood can be severely compromised. Therefore, it’s crucial to identify the signs of larvae and infestation early to prevent serious damage.
How to Identify a Wood Borer Infestation
Look out for these common signs:
✅ Tiny, white, curved larvae near wooden items — a strong indicator of infestation.
✅ Fine sawdust or frass on floors or surfaces near wood — this is the undigested cellulose expelled by the larvae.
✅ Small cavities in floorboards or crumbled edges/corners of wood panels.
✅ Dead adult beetles, small and dark, near windows, doors, or infested furniture.
✅ Small, round or oval exit holes on the wood’s surface — a clear sign of wood borers at work.
✅ Tunnels inside the wood — though harder to spot, this indicates advanced infestation.
