Insects Control Services
At Avalon Pest Control, we provide comprehensive insect control services to protect your home or commercial property from unwanted pests. Insects can be a significant nuisance and, in some cases, a health risk. They range in size from as small as 1/8-inch to over 1/4-inch in length. Most commonly encountered species are found at the smaller end of the size range, with colors varying from black to dark brown to reddish-black. Smaller species are often uniformly dark in appearance.
These pests feed on a wide range of organic matter and are frequently the cause of infestations in residential and commercial buildings, especially when searching for food sources. Infestations often begin outdoors and can quickly spread indoors if left unchecked.
Common Habitat
Insects often build colonies in natural and decaying wooden structures. Outdoors, they are typically found in:
- Tree holes, dead limbs, stumps, and fallen logs
- Rotting sections of fences, wooden decks, and railings
- Indoors, insects prefer dark and secluded areas, often settling around:
- Soffits, door and window frames
- Skylights, attic corners, and crawl spaces
- Wall voids and baseboards near food or moisture sources
Tips for Insect Control
- Remove piles of lumber, firewood, bricks, or debris near your property, as these can serve as nesting sites.
- Maintain landscape mulch at a depth of less than 2 inches and ensure it is kept at least 12 inches away from the building’s foundation.
- Adjust sprinklers to avoid water spraying directly on the foundation or walls, which can create moist environments ideal for insects.
- Seal cracks, gaps, and openings in exterior walls, around windows, and entry points to prevent insects from entering the building.
- Trim tree branches and shrubbery so they do not touch or hang over your house or commercial structure, reducing easy access for insects.
